Welcome to the 15th episode of the main podcast!
The cinema release for this episode was The Revenant which was directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and stars Leonardo Di Caprio, Tom Hardy, Will Poulter and Domhnall Gleeson amongst others. The film follows a character by the name of Hugh Glass as he survives attacks by Native Americans, a bear and one of his fellow fur-trappers in the cold wilderness of North America in the 1820s, and his subsequent pursuit of revenge.
We then look at the home release, Love and Mercy. This film is a biopic of Brian Wilson of the band The Beach Boys and follows two distinct periods of time in his life. Paul Dano plays the younger version and John Cusack plays the older version, with a supporting cast that includes Paul Giamatti and Elizabeth Banks. The film was directed by Bill Pohlad and actually included Brian Wilson amongst the producers.
The final film was the excellent classic western, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. The film was made in 1969 and starred Paul Newman, Robert Redford and Katherine Ross. The film is directed by George Roy Hill and follows the titular characters, who are famed bank robbers, on their adventures in the wild west and, subsequently, Bolivia. The Oscar-winning soundtrack includes music from the great Burt Bacharach.
