Foundation Films #001 – Blade Runner

The first in a line of new Back to the Feature specials, we look at what we view as ‘foundation’ films. Although it seems we all have a view on what makes a film a foundation film, the idea is that if the proposed film had an influence on us in some profound way or that it can be seen to be influential to film in general in some way, then it will be included on the list. The first of these is Blade Runner (1982)- Paul’s favourite film. A film that didn’t do so well at the box office but it found its audience in time, again and again but always with us.

Set in Los Angeles in 2019, Ridley Scott creates an astonishingly dark dystopia exploring science fiction, spirituality and the meaning of existence.
